The diplomatic community in Kenya is mourning the death of veteran ambassador Boaz Mbaya, who passed away on the morning of Sunday, June 22. Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi confirmed his death in a heartfelt statement, highlighting Mbaya's significant contributions and roles.

• Boaz Mbaya served in ambassadorial roles for nearly four decades, representing Kenya in countries including France, Ethiopia, and Tanzania.
• He notably held the position of Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he played an integral role in shaping the country’s foreign policy.
• Following his retirement, Mbaya chaired the Former and Retired Ambassadors Association of Kenya (FRAA) and authored the book Kenya’s Foreign Policy and Diplomacy: Evolution, Challenges and Opportunities in 2019.
