Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara has been arrested at her home after declining to appear before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) following summons related to her comments undermining a public officer.

• Kihara cited a 2016 High Court ruling declaring the penal provision unconstitutional and termed the summons as political persecution.
• She criticized President William Ruto for his directive regarding violent protests, which has contributed to rising political tensions in the country.
