Several people are feared dead and dozens injured after a trailer truck lost its brakes and careened into roadside vendors and boda boda riders at Daraja Mbili in Kisii County on Wednesday morning.

• The incident involved a trailer truck that reportedly lost its brakes while descending from Kisii town, crashing into multiple vehicles and pedestrians at the busy market centre.
• According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle was speeding and the area is a notorious blackspot, with residents demanding that the county government and national government intervene.
• The truck driver attempted to swerve but crashed into a tuk-tuk, a Probox, several motorcycles, and roadside stalls, catching women selling vegetables in the chaos.
