The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has provided an update on loan disbursements for continuing university and college students, clarifying changes to the allocation structure. The scholarship component will now be processed separately from the upkeep funds.

• Students will receive upkeep funds based on a new band structure, disbursed in two equal instalments per semester. Band 1 students will get a total of Ksh60,000 annually, while Band 5 students receive Ksh40,000.
• The scholarship portion will be processed and disbursed at a later, separate date.
• HELB advises patience for students whose portals do not yet reflect amounts, as the system is still being updated in phases.
