The Senate County Public Investments and Special Funds Committee has threatened disciplinary action against certified public accountants from the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) for alleged significant errors in Kilifi County's audit reports. This follows the grilling of Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro over Kshs. 102.9 million in unsupported expenditures across various county funds.

• The audit issues concerned Kilifi County’s Ward Scholarship Fund, Emergency Fund, Climate Change Fund, and the Microfinance (Wezesha) Fund.
• Committee Chairman, Senator Godfrey Osotsi, expressed concern over recurring financial reporting errors and unsupported purchases, including Kshs. 102.9 million for food under the Emergency Fund.
• Governor Mung’aro attributed the lapses to uncooperative officers, vowing to take decisive action against those failing to comply with audit processes, while maintaining no funds were misappropriated.
