The Kenyan National Police Service (NPS) operates on a top-down command structure, integrating three key sub-sections: the Kenya Police Service, the Administration Police Service, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

• At the apex is the Inspector-General of Police, currently Douglas Kanja, who provides overall command and oversight.
• The IG is deputized by two Deputy Inspector-Generals: Gilbert Masengeli heads the Administration Police Service, overseeing units like RDU, BPU, and ASTU, while Eliud Lagat is in charge of the Kenya Police Service.
