Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has detailed the expansive list of free outpatient services now available at public health facilities (Level 2 to Level 4) across Kenya, following a directive from President William Ruto. These services, anchored under the Social Health Authority (SHA), aim to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and are accessible to all registered Kenyans.

  • These free services include consultation, diagnosis, treatment for common conditions, laboratory services, basic radiological examinations (X-rays, ultrasounds), medication, health education, management of NCDs, enteric infections, STIs (including HIV/AIDS), mental health support, minor procedures, immunisations, and maternal/child care.
  • Duale urged the public to report co-charging for these services by dialling SHA centre on 147.
  • This announcement comes shortly after 40 hospitals were suspended from the SHA program due to alleged fraudulent practices.
