Kenyans who commit felonies in the United Kingdom (UK) will now face immediate deportation following new legislation introduced by the British government. This policy shift, announced on Sunday, August 10, aims to fast-track the removal of foreign criminals as part of the UK’s "Plan for Change" initiative, strengthening border control and reducing prison costs.

• The UK government estimates an average annual cost of Ksh9.4 million (£54,000) per inmate.
