A leading digital taxi-hailing app in Kenya has announced it will issue Electronic Tax Invoice Management System (eTIMS) invoices for all rides, streamlining tax compliance for drivers. This move, approved by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), aims to help drivers meet the new nationwide eTIMS requirements.

• The app will process eTIMS invoices on behalf of its drivers, requiring them to submit their KRA PIN certificates and accept a consent form.
• The KRA introduced the eTIMS platform in 2023 to digitize tax compliance, curb tax evasion, and ensure real-time transaction monitoring.
• As of June of last year, only 120,000 businesses, or 18.1 percent of the 663,000 companies on the KRA's records, had signed up for eTIMS.
