This warning follows a forecast by the Kenya Meteorological Department anticipating continued rain, strong winds, and chilly conditions across several regions this week.

• On Tuesday, August 19, Principal Secretary Joseph Mungai highlighted risks including reduced tire traction leading to skidding and hydroplaning.
• Drivers are advised to reduce speed, increase following distances, and avoid sudden braking due to longer braking times and hidden hazards like potholes and oil slicks.
• Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, Kisumu, and Uasin Gishu are among the counties expecting continued rain until Saturday, August 23.
• Chief Officer for Environment Geoffrey Mosiria of Nairobi directed residents away from riparian land and dispatched teams to clear blocked drainage systems, citing the challenges posed by the city's infrastructure.
