The Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife in Kenya has announced stricter rules for the Maasai Mara, aimed at enhancing visitor safety and protecting wildlife during the annual wildebeest migration. This move follows a viral video showing tourists outside their vehicles in close proximity to wildlife.

• CS Rebecca Miano stated that ranger presence will be intensified, especially at river crossing points, and tour operators must ensure visitors remain inside vehicles.
• The Ministry, in collaboration with the Narok County Government and the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), will implement these new measures.
• Companies allowing clients to disregard park regulations will face disciplinary or legal consequences, with clear signage and improved visitor education also planned.
