Private hospitals in Kenya are on the verge of a nationwide shutdown due to delayed compensation from the government, primarily under the Social Health Authority (SHA) and the now-defunct NHIF. This situation has pushed many facilities to the brink of closure, threatening healthcare access. Separately, former Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development JB Muturi has accused the SHA of financial misconduct. Muturi alleged the authority diverted Sh7.6 billion intended for 3,297 families of deceased and injured civil servants. The funds were allegedly redirected to other government agencies.
