This demand follows a serious accident on Saturday, August 23, along the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway involving a truck and a matatu, which injured 15 people.

• MAK Chairman Peter Murima urges the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to implement stricter penalties, including complete license cancellations, similar to practices in other countries.
• The association also advocates for NTSA to hold fleet managers accountable for vehicle inspections and maintenance, and for failing to enforce internal codes of conduct.
• The accident at Kibarani involved a trailer falling on a matatu, resulting in five critical injuries and eight minor injuries, as confirmed by the Red Cross.
