Health Principal Secretary Dr. Ouma Oluga has clarified his letter to the Council of Governors (CoG) regarding Universal Health Coverage (UHC) staff absorption, denying a fall out with Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale. Oluga stated his communication reinforced Duale’s announcement on staff absorption into permanent terms.

• 7,414 out of 7,629 UHC staff were verified for transition, with 215 failing to present.

• The CoG, led by Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki, rejects the planned transfer of UHC staff to counties until gratuity payments are settled.
