The European Investment Bank (EIB) Global is upskilling African investment and fund managers through its Africa Venture Finance Programme, currently hosted at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School in England. This initiative aims to strengthen Africa's investment ecosystem, support technology, and tech-enabled enterprises.
- More than 40 leading African venture capital fund managers are participating in the ongoing five-day program.
- The program, now in its fourth edition, is delivered by Boost Africa, a joint program of EIB Global and the African Development Bank.
- So far, over 150 of Africa’s most relevant venture capital fund managers have participated, with nearly half of the current participants being women.
- Africa receives only between 1 and 2 percent of global venture capital despite representing 18 percent of the world’s population.
- Boost Africa has mobilized over €380 million (Sh66.12 billion) in capital for startups across the continent.
