Four men have been re-charged in the case involving the fraudulent replacement of a SIM card belonging to former Central Police OCS Samson Kiprotich Taalam. The accused now face 12 counts, including computer fraud and identity theft, after allegedly using the SIM to solicit money and withdraw funds from Taalam’s M-Pesa account.
- The accused are Brian Ronoh Kiprotich, Amos Nzomo Kimanzi, James Mutemi Munyithya, and Dennis Masavi Musimi, who conspired between June 16 and 19, 2025.
- Kiprotich was arrested on July 20, 2025, in Embarkasi Pipeline, in possession of at least seven different identity cards.
- Lawyer Danstan Omari, representing Taalam, urged the court to revoke the earlier bond terms, citing public danger and the unprecedented access of an exhibit from IPOA.
