The delegation has already engaged with retail giant Walmart and Milo’s Tea Company to open doors for key products.
- CS Kagwe and his delegation met with Walmart, which operates over 40,000 outlets, to discuss direct access for Kenyan tea, macadamia nuts, and other exports.
- Macnut Association of Kenya (MACNUT) CEO Jane Maigua highlighted Kenya's macadamia, noting it is sourced from over 200,000 smallholder farmers and enjoys a 10 percent duty compared to 30 percent for South African nuts.
- Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) leaders emphasized Kenya's ability to package tea at source, pushing to expand exports of value-added varieties including green, orthodox, and purple tea.
- The tour includes talks with the U.S. Departments of Commerce and Agriculture, the Governor of South Carolina, and participation in the North America Tea Conference. Kenya currently accounts for just 2 percent of U.S. tea imports.
