• Mukunji had previously alleged that his arrest stemmed from a failed assassination plot where he claimed he was to be framed with explosives.
• He filed a petition at the High Court challenging his arrest, terming it unlawful and politically motivated, targeting Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, DCI Director Mohamed Amin, and DPP Renson Ingonga.
