ODPP Orders Arrest of Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo; Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji Acquitted - September 2025

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has ordered the arrest of Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo and seven others on charges of kidnapping with intent to cause grievous harm and robbery with violence. The incident allegedly occurred on June 19, 2025, in Machakos County and involved the abduction and assault of a former Isiolo County Chief Officer of Health. In a separate case, Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji has been acquitted on terrorism-related charges. Following his acquittal, the MP, a vocal critic of the administration, accused state agencies like the ODPP of misusing the law. He called on President William Ruto to ensure national security.
