Kenya is set to finalize a power purchase agreement with Ethiopia to procure electricity from the newly inaugurated Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), according to President William Ruto. This deal aims to address Kenya's rising energy demand and enhance grid reliability with clean, stable power during the dam's launch in Ethiopia.

• Kenya's peak power demand currently exceeds 2,300MW.
• President William Ruto, along with other regional leaders including Prime Ministers Abiy Ahmed (Ethiopia) and Mia Mottley (Barbados), attended the GERD inauguration.
• The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, Africa's largest at 6,450 megawatts, was financed domestically with $5 billion and no debt.
