The Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) has issued a 7-day strike notice to the government, with the strike set to begin on Wednesday, September 17. This action comes after the government allegedly failed to fulfill negotiated and registered Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) and to allocate funds as directed by the court.

• CBA arrears have accumulated to Ksh.3.27 billion.
• The strike notice, dated September 10, 2025, has been signed by 41 universities.
• UASU Secretary General Constantine Wasonga stated that universities expect payment before the start of the September term and also demand negotiation for the 2025/2026 CBA.
