The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) are set to receive over Ksh 1.2 billion combined from the Political Parties Fund for the 2025/26 Financial Year, according to a notice from the acting Registrar of Political Parties, Sophia Sitati.

  • The UDA party will receive over Ksh 789 million.
  • The ODM party will receive over Ksh 421 million.
  • A total of 47 political parties are eligible to receive funds from the Political Parties Fund, with some smaller parties receiving as little as Ksh 378,785.
  • This allocation follows a petition by a coalition of small political parties seeking amendments to the Political Parties Act 2011 to secure their funding ahead of the 2027 general elections.
  • The National Liberal Party (NLP) leader, Augustus Muli, claimed the current funding structure is unfair as only 47 out of 91 registered political parties receive government funding.

In a separate move, Huduma Kenya and the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) have signed an agreement allowing Kenyans to register biometric data for smart driving licenses at 15 Huduma Centres.
