Kenyan doctors have finally received the second and final installment of their 2017–2024 salary arrears, concluding a seven-year dispute with the government. Dr. Davji Atellah, Secretary General of the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU), confirmed the payout as a "historic victory."

• The arrears, committed following a December 2024 Return-to-Work Formula, were processed and released, with the first installment paid in December 2024.
• PS Mary Muthoni of Public Health and Professional Standards, in a letter dated September 9, 2025, notified KMPDU of the final payment.
• The development follows a personal pledge made by President William Ruto during a meeting in State House, Nairobi in May 2024.
• KMPDU's next priorities include securing 2024–2025 arrears, ensuring correct payslip reflections, and advocating for the employment of 2,000 doctors.
