Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja faces a formal summons from the Senate Standing Committee on Education after failing to appear for a session regarding Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres in Nairobi County.

• The Committee summoned Sakaja to discuss progress, challenges, and budgetary allocations but he cancelled at the last minute, leading to accusations of showing contempt for the Senate's oversight role.
• Nominated Senator Agnes Kavindu suggested enforcing fines for snubbing parliamentary summons, to be paid personally by the Governor.
• This is not the first instance; Sakaja was previously fined Ksh500,000 in April 2024 for missing an Energy Committee sitting.
