The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) has completed its Grid Restoration Project on the Loiyangalani–Suswa 400kV Double Circuit Transmission Line, ensuring enhanced power evacuation from the Lake Turkana Wind Power (LTWP) plant.

• The project involved the design, supply, and erection of six new transmission towers and restored the transmission line to its original operational capacity.
• Circuit 1 was energized on September 20, 2025, and Circuit 2 on September 28, 2025.
• The total cost of the project is Ksh. 46,133,077 and USD 1,598,660.
• Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi noted that the line can now transmit up to 300 MW, providing more stable, affordable, and clean energy.
• KETRACO’s Acting Managing Director, Eng. Kipkemoi Kibias, highlighted that the restoration improves power reliability and restores N-1 contingency.
