The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is requesting a 14-day detention for five police officers arrested on September 26, 2025, in connection with illegal firearms trafficking. The officers are suspected of involvement in cross-border arms trade, with some allegedly selling ammunition at the Lokichogio market.

• The five officers were identified as Charles Lotira Ekidor, Ileli Cyrus Kisamwa, Samson Muriithi Mutongu, Wesley Sang, and Paul Kipketer Tonui.
• They were found with a Remington Rand pistol model No. 1911, 19 assorted magazines, and ammunition during a sting operation in Eldoret and Nairobi.
• The prosecution opposes their release, fearing they might tamper with evidence or witnesses due to their access to official armouries.
