The Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry (MITI) has invited Kenyans to submit their views on the proposed Standard Bill 2025 before October 28, 2025. This draft bill aims to establish a legal framework for standardisation, metrology, and conformity to influence the future of trade, consumer safety, and industry regulations in Kenya.

• The bill seeks to provide an overarching framework to promote standardization, metrology, and conformity assessment, ensuring safety and quality of products and services, and facilitating fair trade practices.
• MITI states the bill will improve the safety and quality of goods and promote fair competition but anticipates businesses will face strict compliance checks and additional costs for testing and certification.
• Public forums will be held across Kenya from October 8 to October 27 in locations including Sarova Whitesands Hotel (Coast), Marsabit FK Resort and Spa (Mt Kenya), Ciala Resort (Nyanza), Sirikwa Hotel (North Rift), Merica Hotel (South Rift), and Eka Hotel (Nairobi).
