A tragic head-on collision at Kariandusi near Gilgil on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway has resulted in the deaths of 13 members of the same family. The family, led by Elijah Mburu, was en route to a family meeting in Rongai, Nakuru, when their matatu collided with a trailer.

• 13 family members, including Elijah Mburu, his wife, four daughters, and grandchildren, perished in the crash.
• The accident, captured on CCTV footage, occurred on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at approximately 12:05pm.
• Justina Wamae, running mate to Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah, issued condolences, and the bereaved family from Kahiga village, Kandara Constituency, has appealed for burial support.
