The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has severely criticized the Council of Governors (CoG) for their response to the Kiambu health crisis, which includes the deaths of 131 newborns. The union announced a looming national strike in solidarity with their Kiambu colleagues.

• KMPDU accused the CoG of "indifferent and heartless" handling, describing their dismissal of reports as "pure mischief" and "false publication."
• Secretary General Dr. Davji Atellah stated the infant deaths were due to "systemic failure and negligence by county governments."
• KMPDU demanded a public apology from the CoG, urgent engagement, an independent investigation into the neonatal deaths, and the dissolution of the Kiambu County Government.
• A national strike notice will be issued on October 25, 2025, if demands are not met, urging President William Ruto to take action.
