The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) announced a record-breaking collection of Ksh85.146 billion in customs taxes during September 2025, the highest monthly total in its history.
- This collection exceeded the monthly target of Ksh81.341 billion by Ksh3.806 billion, achieving a performance rate of 104.7 per cent and an 18.8 per cent growth compared to the previous year.
- The growth was attributed to strong performance in both trade and petroleum tax categories, with trade taxes reaching Ksh51.737 billion and petroleum taxes hitting Ksh33.408 billion.
- KRA cited institutional reforms and innovations, particularly the establishment of a central release operations office, for enhancing revenue collection efficiency and minimizing manipulation.
