The Rural and Urban Private Hospitals Association of Kenya (Rupha) has criticized Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale over Ksh13.8 billion allegedly owed to the defunct National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) by various government entities.
- As of September 30, 2024, Ksh12.8 billion represented total unpaid premiums.
- The Ministry of Health leads the debt with Ksh7.8 billion, including Ksh1 billion for the Health Insurance Subsidy Program for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (HISP-OVC), Ksh2.1 billion for Linda Mama programs, and Ksh4 billion for Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
