The National Land Commission (NLC) has announced plans to acquire a 0.21-hectare parcel of land in Tharaka Nithi County to facilitate the completion of the county's headquarters, which stalled in 2021 due to funding issues.

  • The NLC intends to acquire land plot number Kathwana/617, registered under an individual, to be annexed as part of the Tharaka Nithi County Headquarters buildings in Kathwana Municipality.
  • NLC chairman Gershom Otachi made the announcement in a gazette notice dated October 31.
  • The Ksh400 million county headquarters project, funded 80 per cent by the National Government and 20 per cent by the County Government, stalled because the National Government failed to pay the contractor.
