Kenya is among African countries facing a severe shortage of cybersecurity risk professionals, leaving entities vulnerable to increasing cyber-attacks, a situation highlighted at the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) annual Governors, Risk and Compliance (GRC) conference in Naivasha.

• A survey conducted across Africa revealed a massive deficit of cybersecurity professionals.
• George Kisaka, Vice-President of ISACA, emphasized efforts to build capacity through partnerships with educational institutions and releasing 250 graduates from TVETs with AI, cybersecurity, and data protection skills.
• Denish Sadda, Director, Autonomous Data Safaricom PLC, and Jimmy Couvaras, a data expert from Zambia, warned that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will intensify cyber threats, especially for institutions like banks and health facilities, underscoring the need for better-skilled professionals.
