The Ethics and Anti-Corruptio Commission (EACC) has filed a lawsuit in the Thika Environment and Land Court to reclaim a nine-acre parcel of public land in Ruiru, Kiambu County, that was illegally converted from educational to residential use. The land, originally intended for a secondary school, was sold and subdivided into 37 residential plots after an irregular change of use approval.

The land, valued at approximately Sh250 million in 2019, was reserved for educational purposes within the Kahawa Sukari Residential Scheme.
The primary parties involved are Kahawa Sukari Limited, and individuals James Mwangi Wagura and Lucy Waruguru Wagura, who are the current owners of the land.
A temporary injunction was issued on October 29, 2025, preventing the defendants from further dealing with the property pending interlocutory orders scheduled for November 20, 2025.
