The East African Community (EAC) is advocating for expanded climate financing for Least Developed Countries at the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Brazil, presenting a united regional front across its eight Partner States. This initiative promotes nature-based solutions and strengthens transboundary water cooperation.

• The EAC launched the Preview Edition of the Lake Victoria State of the Basin Report 2025, developed by the Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) with support from GIZ.
• The report provides insights into the ecological health and socio-economic trends of the Lake Victoria Basin, which supports over 45 million people.
• The project received €60 million in financing from BMZ via KfW under the Lake Victoria Basin Integrated Water Resource Management Program.
