• Justice John Chigiti quashed the ban entirely, prohibiting the Communications Authority (CA) and other state agencies from enforcing it.
• The ruling means the government cannot order a shutdown or ban live broadcast coverage of protests.
• The case was brought by the Katiba Institute, Law Society of Kenya (LSK), and Kenya Editors Guild (KEG), arguing the ban contravened freedoms of expression, media, and information.
