President William Ruto officially launched the dualling of the Rironi–Nakuru–Mau Summit Road, a critical 170-kilometre corridor. The Sh170 billion initiative also includes the Nairobi–Maai Mahiu–Naivasha highways project. Hailed as a "dawn of a new era" for its debt-free financing, the project is structured as a Public–Private Partnership (PPP). The launch took place in Kiambu County on November 28, 2025. It is expected that the development will create 15,000 jobs for young Kenyans and transform the congested corridor linking Nairobi to the Rift Valley and western Kenya.
