Seven university students initially suspected in the death of Daystar University student Lorna Kathambi Karani have been cleared due to new CCTV footage. The incident occurred on November 23, when Lorna fell from a balcony after a party.

• New CCTV footage, which emerged on December 1, showed Lorna accidentally falling while attempting to jump between balconies.
• The seven students (four boys and three girls) were initially arrested and detained after items belonging to the deceased were found in the apartments.
• The prosecution recommended a public inquest into the death of Lorna, rather than pursuing criminal charges against the students, a recommendation accepted by the court.
