The State Department for Roads has announced the completion of the 66-kilometre Ngong–Suswa Highway after seven years of work. This new highway offers an alternative route for motorists traveling from Nairobi to the Rift Valley and Nyanza Region, aiming to ease traffic on the busy Mai Mahiu escarpment road and enhance regional connectivity.

The 66-kilometre Ngong–Suswa Highway has been completed, providing an alternative route for travel to areas like Narok, Bomet, Kisii, and Kericho.
The State Department for Roads stated the highway will improve safety and unlock economic potential through trade, tourism, and community growth.
The completion comes shortly after President William Ruto launched the Ksh170 billion Nairobi-Nakuru-Mau Summit Road and the Nairobi-Mai Mahiu-Naivasha Project using a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
