The Kenyan government has announced significant changes in the senior leadership of the National Police Service (NPS), alongside plans for comprehensive reforms including vehicle procurement and infrastructure development.

• Adamson Bungei, former Nairobi Regional Police Commander, was appointed Director of the Kenya National Focal Point on Small Arms and Light Weapons, replacing Jacinta Muthoni.
• Other key reassignments include Jasper Ombati moving to Central Region and Samuel Ndanyi to Rift Valley, effectively swapping roles.
• The changes coincide with President William Ruto's administration's plans to acquire 3,000 police vehicles and construct 900 police stations within the next two years.
• Furthermore, all police officers are slated for promotion by at least one rank by June 1, 2026.
