The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has provided a detailed update on the fatal road accident that killed former Minister Cyrus Jirongo on December 13, 2025, along the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway. The DCI has re-summoned the bus driver involved for further police action after confirming CCTV footage of the crash.

• The crash occurred at 2:19:25 a.m. when a Climax Company Ltd bus rammed into Jirongo's vehicle at the exit of Eagol Petrol Station.
• The bus driver, identified as Tyrus Githinji Kamau, is currently out on cash bail and faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving.
• Forensic experts and homicide detectives analyzed the scene and reviewed CCTV footage, which confirmed the timeline of events, including Jirongo's vehicle making a right turn back towards Nairobi just before impact.
