Leaders of the opposition, including Democracy for the Citizens party leader Rigathi Gachagua, have demanded that National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula recount his last moments with the late Cyrus Jirongo before his death. They are calling for a quick investigation into Jirongo's death, which occurred on the night of December 13, following a car crash.

Gachagua questioned why those last seen with Jirongo in Karen have remained silent.
The burial planning committee chairperson, former Westlands MP Fred Gumo, stated that Wetang'ula visited Jirongo's home on Sunday, December 14, to explain his interactions, confirming he was with Jirongo until 9:30 pm on December 13.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed the accident occurred on the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway and is examining Jirongo's movements before the crash.
