Police have launched an investigation into the murder of a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer who was attacked and killed by unknown assailants in Seme area, Kisumu County. The officer was ambushed alongside another man while returning home from Asat Beach.

• The 46-year-old officer, attached to Embakasi barracks, succumbed to injuries upon arrival at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Referral Hospital.
• The other man survived the attack and is recuperating at the same facility after sustaining serious wounds.
• West Othany Assistant Chief Richard Jaoko confirmed that DCI detectives and officers from Kombewa Police Station are investigating the incident.
• The incident occurred amidst heightened security measures implemented by the Ministry of Interior for the festive season, including the activation of the National Multi-Agency Command Centre (NMACC).
