The Social Health Authority (SHA) has invited licensed overseas healthcare providers to offer specialized medical services to Kenyan patients seeking treatment abroad. This initiative aims to address the needs of patients requiring interventions not available locally.
- The services will cover beneficiaries of the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), the Primary Healthcare Fund, the Emergency, Chronic and Critical Illness Fund, and the Public Officers Medical Scheme Fund (POMSF).
- The SHA Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, stated that eligible services are outlined in a gazetted overseas benefit package and tariffs.
- Interested providers must demonstrate proof of registration, accreditation in their country, and a valid license for specialist doctors, as well as a linkage with a Kenyan healthcare facility for follow-up care.
