A recent investigation by Finland’s public broadcaster Yle, led by journalist Wali Hashi, has exposed a network of alleged secret disciplinary camps in Kenya and Somalia where children from Europe, including Finland and Sweden, are subjected to severe abuse under the guise of rehabilitation.

• Parents, often from the Somali diaspora, secretly send their children to these institutions for “dhaqan celis” (return to culture), paying hundreds of euros per month.
• Hashi gained access to the camps by posing as a parent, secretly recording video evidence of young people chained, beaten with sticks and pipes, and subjected to food deprivation.
• Diplomatic officials from countries like Norway and Denmark in Kenya have confirmed encountering multiple traumatized youths rescued from such camps.
