363 public primary schools in Kenya have received internet connectivity through the Last Mile Connectivity of Schools (LMCS) project, a European Union initiative aimed at bolstering Competency-Based Education (CBE) and bridging the digital divide in rural areas.
- The project has connected 363 schools, with a goal to reach 1,000 public primary schools across 14 counties.
- Supported by the European Union and Unicef, the project was launched in October 2023 with a budget of Sh1.48 billion.
- To date, over 277,000 learners have accessed online platforms, and more than 4,400 teachers are integrating digital technology, with 2,800 children with disabilities benefiting from inclusive digital tools.
