The Central Organisation of Trade Unions (Cotu-Kenya), led by Secretary General Francis Atwoli, has strongly criticized the Federation of Kenyan Employers (FKE) for allegedly inciting opposition to the new National Social Security Fund (NSSF) rates, accusing them of misrepresenting the impact of deductions and downplaying long-term retirement benefits.

• Atwoli stated that the full implementation of the NSSF Act, 2013, is not optional and urged FKE to comply with the law.
• COTU accused FKE of double standards, citing their historical opposition to minimum wage increases while now claiming concern for workers.
• The union reaffirmed its commitment to defending the NSSF Act, 2013, to guarantee a dignified retirement for all workers in both formal and informal sectors.
