A new report by the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) reveals that Lake Victoria region counties, specifically Siaya and Kisumu, lead the country in newspaper readership. This trend comes amidst a general decline in physical newspaper usage in Kenya due to the rise of digital platforms.

• Siaya and Kisumu counties (Lake region) and Lower Eastern (including Kitui and Machakos) recorded the highest newspaper readership at 22 percent in the first quarter of the 2025/26 financial year.
• The CA report highlights that newspaper readership is lowest in the Coast region at 11 percent and North Western Kenya at 16 percent.
• Radio and television remain the most used media platforms in Kenya nationally, with a usage rate of 73 percent.
