Over 5,498 interns with degrees and diplomas in built environment fields are participating in Kenya's affordable housing and economic stimulus projects to gain supervisory skills. This initiative aims to enhance practical expertise within the construction sector across all 47 counties.
- These interns include 366 civil engineers, 359 electrical engineers, 346 structural engineers, 240 architects, and 159 land surveyors.
- Housing Permanent Secretary (PS) Charles Hinga stated the program will restore sanity to the construction sector, with over 38,000 youths applying for the limited slots.
- In Nyeri County, Housing Director Asumptor Kavuu reported 109 interns are currently deployed under the program.
