A forum hosted by President William Ruto at State House has highlighted how Kenyan politicians and public officers are flouting laws by party-hopping and engaging in premature 2027 election campaigns with no apparent consequences.
- Several high-profile figures, including former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria and Deputy Governor Ayub Savula, have publicly declared their intent to run on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket for the 2027 General Election despite belonging to other parties.
- Judicial Service Commission (JSC) Vice Chairman Isaac Rutto and Labour Principal Secretary Shadrack Mwadime, both public officers barred from political activity, have also registered as UDA aspirants.
- The Registrar of Political Parties, John Cox, whose office is responsible for enforcing these laws, did not respond to inquiries about action being taken against these violations.
